"For we who have believed do enter that rest..." (Hebrews 4:3, NKJV)

God promises that there are "set times" in our future to bring His promises to pass in our lives, but He doesn’t tell us when they will be. Your set time may be tomorrow morning at 9:34. You’ll get the phone call you’ve been waiting for. Your set time may be two years from now. You’ll get a good break that will thrust you to a new level. The rest promised by God is still offered, through Christ. Here, the writer of Hebrews makes the point that this "rest" is not permanently closed off, and is in fact something available to all who fully trust in God. The two main enemies of entering God’s rest are unbelief and disobedience, and they each have an evil spirit behind them. These two enemies work hand in hand, because if you don’t believe God, you will not obey Him. Your unbelief will lead you to disobedience. You cannot rest in faith when you don’t believe God and His Word. God’s deliverance is always manifested after the person gets to the position of resting faith.
